Palacete Barão de Forrester in Alijó has deepened its connection to the
Douro and to the history of the oldest demarcated wine region regulated in the world, providing an experience that brings the visitor and guest for the time and space of the "Barão de Forrester".
In the
rooms and in the
restaurant, each room tells a different story about the Douro.
This is the only Palacete de Portugal in the
Douro Region.
Its name is a tribute to Joseph James Forrester, English businessman based in Portugal during the nineteenth century, in 1855, received from King D. Fernando II the title of Baron, for his dedication to the study and appreciation of the
Douro and the
Port wine.

Restaurante “O Barão” is a meeting space with the Douro flavours. The menu, in terms of the kitchen, enriches the freshness and quality of the meat, the regional sausages, the vegetables, and in terms of the wines, the proximity of Douro, the root of Port Wine.
Located inside the Palacete Barão de Forrester, the Restaurant “O Barão” proposes a varied menu inspired by the traditional portuguese cuisine and the use of the local products.
